Ocusoft Alternative: Heyedrate Lid and Lash Cleanser

This natural, non-detergent based spray is perfect for deep cleaning the skin, which makes it great for soothing any skin irritations you have, such as cuts, scrapes, eyelid bumps, irritated eyes, redness, swelling, burning, itching, gunkiness, or crustiness of the eyelid margin. Hypochlorous acid is a natural complement to your body’s healing capacity and is made by the body naturally. The great thing about this cleanser is that it is super gentle, so you’ll rarely find this drying like other cleansers on the market. Also, it’s a simple to use spray, so you can even use it on the go.

To use this spray, first wash your hands and remove contact lenses (if wearing). Remove eye makeup with a tea tree oil eye makeup remover.  Wash face with a tea tree oil bar soap and dry thoroughly. Close eyes and spray the solution directly onto your eyelids. Let it dry, as no rinsing is required. Alternatively, you can spray it onto a cotton round or cotton ball and gently rub across your eyelid margin. Easy as that!

Hypochlorous Acid, electrolyzed water, sodium chloride (table salt)

Reviews for Heyedrate Lid and Lash Cleanser

Heyedrate Lid and Lash Cleanser is a well-reviewed product both on Amazon and their website. This product receives an average of 4-4.5 stars on Amazon and customers say it is great for relieving their irritated, red, inflamed eyes and eyelids while also being gentle enough to use on scrapes and cuts as well. It’s also great for use on skin irritations elsewhere on the body and removes oil, debris, pollen, and other allergens. Poor reviews came down to the fact that it doesn’t work for everyone (no product does!) This is just a fact of life, however many people love this product for the work it does to soothe skin conditions.

Omega-3 and Omega-6

What is the difference between Hydro Eye and Heyedrate Omega-3 for Eye Health?

I talked a little bit about how they can be used in combination with one another. What I promote in my book, “Rethinking Dry Eye Treatment” on Amazon and what I wrote on this website, is that you want to be taking healthy omega-6s with healthy omega-3s. You want those omega-6s to be about a 4 to 1 ratio if you are not a healthy individual, but if you are a healthy individual you want it to be about 2 to 1. So, if you take Hydro Eye with our supplement, you are going to be getting that GLA, which is the healthy omega-6, with our omega-3s.

What we are working on right now is coming out with a vegetarian based dry eye omega. That is going to have a 4 to 1 or 2 to 1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3. Hydro Eye is not vegetarian, it has fish oil in it, and ours is going to be completely vegetarian based. Then, you can take both of ours together. For now, if you took Hydro Eye, you can take ours with it and they will work synergistically with each other. A food you can eat with that same ratio is avocado, which is our favorite. It has a 15 to 1 healthy omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, which is awesome. Also, hemp seeds, chia seeds, ground-up flax seeds all have high amount of fat but they all have healthy omega-6 to healthy omega-3.

When each cell in your body is being created it has a cell membrane or a wall around the city, and if you eat bad fats, processed foods, sugars, beef, dairy, and things that are not organic and farm raised, the walls do not let enough oxygen through because they are terribly made. When you eat healthy fats, those walls are made really well and it will allow oxygen to pass through, which means healthier cells, which means it is going to make you feel better. So, Hydro Eye and Heyedrate can absolutely be taken together.

What is the Best Fish Oil Without Mercury and Contaminants?

What is the Best Fish Oil Without Mercury and Contaminants? 0

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

I am allergic to mercury and I have read that some fish oil contains mercury. Does your fish oil contain mercury and other contaminants and where do you get your fish from?

All fish have contaminants. It is impossible to get away from that because humans are dumping waste into the ocean. Believe it or not, there is just so much waste in the ocean and what is happening is the small fish eat it, and then the big fish eat the small fish. It is actually starting to find plastic particles in the fish. So, no matter what fish oil you get, no matter how high the quality is, it is going to have some form of contaminants. That being said, we source ours from a higher grade source. More sustainable source, meaning they are not killing off the fish. It is fish that is constantly being reproduce. We do it in a less polluted area off the shores of Iceland. Iceland is a very very huge fishing island and that is where some of the best fish come from. We make sure we only get our fish oil from Iceland.

Another good area is Nordic or Norway. Nordic Naturals is another good quality fish oil because they get the fish oil from Norway area. That whole North European area is good. Our fish oil is from Iceland and it is very sustainable. It is going to be less filled with contaminants, or free of mercury. Plus the process of the refinement is a lot better where we get it done. Any type of contamination or any type of mercury that is in the fish that are used, the amount is going to be so low especially from the areas that we get our fish oil from. That is something that you never have to worry about. If we were to get it from another area that did not regulate things like Iceland does or like Norway does then that might be an issue.

Next question: Will the fish oil also help dry skin and depression and can it be used on natural thyroid medication?

If you are on more of a homeopathic thyroid route, I would talk to your homeopathic doctor about that first. Does it help with dry skin and depression? Yes, it does. A lot of my patients that are taking it notice their scalp is less dry, their skin is less dry, their hair is less dry, and has less dandruff. They notice their depression goes away. We have had a couple of success stories on our website about depression going away from taking our fish oil, which is pretty cool.

Last question: Can you still take a regular multivitamin along with fish oil?

Absolutely, I take a multivitamin everyday and I take our fish oil everyday. Then, to answer that question, the mucin released from lactoferrin is good for mucin deficiency.

What are the Best Eye Drops for Dry Sensitive Eyes?

Eye Drops

What eye drops does Dr. Jenna use during the day that she finds most helpful?

Pregnancy has been a blessing to me. I have not have too much dry eye, which is wonderful! Then, I went back to Ohio and that was awful. Humidity must have something to do with it here in South Carolina. My eyes have not been too bad.

I really like Retain, if I am going to recommend a drop to anyone including myself. I use it myself. It is going to be Retain MGD. I believe that is the one I normally use. Then Retain CMC is the one we recommend with contact lenses because it does not have the white milkiness.
