Is Coconut Oil Safe for Your Eyes?

Uses for Coconut Oil: Is it Safe for Dry Eye and Your Eyelids?

The skin around my eyes is very dry. Is coconut oil okay to use for this?

Organic coconut oil is great to use on the skin around your eyes. Avoid putting it in your eye, but we do use a good coconut oil as a skin moisturizer all over and it’s wonderful. It’s not irritating and it absorbs pretty easily.

Now is it approved for dry skin around your eyelids? No, but it’s a pure oil, so it’s safe. Dr. Travis will sometimes use coconut oil in his beard and then on his eyelids as well. The great thing about coconut oil is that you can eat it too! Using it in everything from coffee to baking recipes is a great way to increase your consumption of healthy fats and therefore further help the dryness of your eyelids.
