It's been a few months since we announced our next trip to Jamaica, and I wanted to remind everyone of the why behind what we do.
With every purchase, Eye Love donates a portion of all proceeds to eye exams, glasses, and sunglasses for patients who can neither afford nor obtain quality eye care. We do this at our home in South Carolina and Jamaica (our slightly more tropical home). We do this because we are SO passionate about quality eye care and the vast need for it worldwide.
We are super excited about our upcoming trip to Negril, Jamaica this coming October because we were unable to go last year (we quit our jobs, moved across the country, and started three new businesses all in a few months). We miss Jamaica! This trip is giving us the chance to help so many get the eye care and glasses that they deserve. So many of these people rely on their sight for their careers and their livelihood, and we can't wait to watch them thrive!
Our last trip was in rural Seaford Town, Jamaica (also known as German Town, due to a large number of residents with German ancestry). This year, we'll be working near Negril which is a treat since Travis and I have never worked in this area before. When we arrive, we'll spend one whole day setting up our clinic. For the next five days, we'll be in our MASH-style clinic seeing patients, treating disease, and prescribing glasses. Everyone who enters leaves with a pair of sunglasses to protect them from the harsh Jamaican sunshine, as well as prescription glasses and medications if they need them.
Your purchases make it possible for us to do the work that we do and will eventually help fund a much-needed, permanent clinic there. We can't wait for this trip and look forward to updating you before, during, and after this life changing adventure!
