It has been brought to our attention that the solar eclipse glasses distributed by the Blythewood Chamber of Commerce were not manufactured by one of the five NASA certified companies. Because of this, we have decided to voluntarily recall all pairs of solar eclipse glasses given out through the Chamber. The following locations in and around Blythewood, SC have given out free pairs in the past two weeks:

Voluntary Benefits at Work

It is our recommendation that all those who received solar eclipse glasses through the Chamber return them to any of the above locations to be discarded. Because they do not have the NASA certification, we highly recommend that you DO NOT use this product to view the sun or the eclipse. Safety is among our highest priorities. Out of an abundance of caution, we are proactively reaching out to all of those who may be affected by this.

We suggest everyone refer to the NASA and AAS websites for more information about safely viewing the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, and you can also head to Eye Love to read more about proper viewing and safety precautions. Please note that any solar eclipse glasses being used to view the sun or eclipse must come from one of the following approved manufacturers:

American Paper Optics

Baader Planetarium

Rainbow Symphony

Thousand Oaks Optical

TSE 17

We are working on replacements, but cannot guarantee them being here on time.

Again, we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Once again, safety is our #1 priority and we wish everyone to have a safe and exciting time viewing this phenomenal event.
