Ngoc Tai was born in Vietnam but has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40 years. Trained as a CPA, she’s always known she was an entrepreneur and has had many businesses outside of her CPA work. In today’s interview, she wants to bring awareness to what most people do not understand about water and how this is so important for us. Water is 70% of your body, so it’s necessary to understand the type of water you’re drinking and using so you can attain optimal health.
Electrolyzed reduced water contains extra molecular hydrogen and is produced from a medical grade machine. It has many uses outside of drinking water, as you’ll soon discover. As water passes through this machine, it runs through a filter and then through platinum titanium plates, which split out the water into H and OH, charge it and create acidic and alkaline water. Depending on the pH (2.5 to 11.5) you create, you’re able to drink it, clean with it, and even use it as beauty water. The lower the pH, the more acidic the water and the higher the pH, the more alkaline. Neutral pH is 7.0.
Interestingly, hypochlorous acid can be made this way. Ngoc uses this in her home as a mouthwash, to treat infections, abrasions, and to heal other wounds. The hypochlorous acid produced by a machine like this is more acidic than what we sell as Heyedrate Lid and Lash Cleanser, so it may be more harsh on your skin than our product would be. In addition, the hypochlorous acid produced from this machine will contain bleach as a byproduct. However, it still has many uses for healthcare and home care.
With the Kangen Water system that Ngoc uses and recommends, you are able to choose what pH of water you’d like to produce. As stated earlier, depending on the pH, you can use different types of water for different things around your home. When you choose a pH (say 2.5) it will produce both pH 2.5 water and pH 11.5 water (adding up to 14.0). As another example, if you want to produce pH 8.0 water, the machine will also produce 6.0.
This low pH water is not for drinking. This water has cleansing properties and can be used to clean kitchen utensils, countertops, cutting boards, kitchen towels and more to prevent cross-contamination. You can use this around your home to clean and cut germs and for general hygiene as a hand sanitizer. It can even be used to clean your toothbrush or as a mouthwash. Water with low pH is also great for acne, which we’ll get into a bit more later. Make sure to keep a spray bottle in your kitchen and bathroom for easy use.
This pH is also not for drinking. This slightly acidic water is recognized for its astringent effects, and it’s wonderful to use for gentle cleaning and beauty care. It will help to tone and firm your skin. Use this water as face wash, hair care, pet care, cleaning and polishing, and even for preserving frozen food. To use, simply spray it on and let the solution dry. Spray foods with this acidic water when freezing so that the food does not lose its flavor when thawed out.
Another great use for this pH is as a conditioner after you’ve shampooed your hair. It helps reduce tangles and brings out shine. The same is true for your pets, as it will keep their fur clean, soft and fluffy.
You can use this for cleaning and polishing mirrors, eyeglasses, windows, and even remove dirt from ceramic tile and hardwood floors without leaving any residue.
This perfectly neutral water is free of chlorine, rust and cloudiness. Neutral water makes for delicious drinking water, and it’s perfect for preparing baby food and for taking medications.
This type of water is perfect for drinking and healthy cooking. This electrolytically-reduced, hydrogen-rich water restores your body to a more alkaline state, which is optimal for healthy living. Instead of buying plastic water bottles, purchase a reusable water bottle and create water with pH 8.5-9.5 for optimal health.
Unlike tap water, Kangen Water® has no unpleasant odor, tastes much lighter, and has a pleasant flavor that’s very different from the normal water you may be used to drinking. Don’t forget to use this water when making coffee or tea as well, and you’ll be surprised at how great your regular beverages taste when made with this water. The same is true for use in soups and stews, and most people find that they are able to decrease the amount of salt they use in their cooking.
Water with this pH is also amazing for cleaning vegetables and some fish. You can even use it to improve the livelihood of your household plants!
This highly alkaline water is not for drinking. Strong Kangen Water preserves hygiene in your daily life due to its strong cleaning effect. It has dissolving and heat conducting benefits. Use it to remove rawness from organic vegetables such as green onions, bamboo, and wasabi. It gets rid of all pesticides (and yes, even in organic produce!)
Aside from that, use this pH to clean dishcloths and cutting boards, countertops, and even your toilet bowl. It’s incredibly effective for removing all kinds of stains. Lastly, save on your water bill and dish detergent bill by using this water to wash and rinse your dishes.
While there are many great benefits of using electrolyzed reduced water, one of the main benefits is in cleaning and food preparation. We know that organic foods are optimal for health, but even organic foods will leach pesticides and other residue when cleaned with 11.5 pH water! Processed foods, added chemicals, and even bottled water could be making you sick while you believe you’re being healthy.
Oxidation is also important to mention. Oxidation is a chemical process where a substance either loses electrons and hydrogen, or it gains oxygen. You can see this when you cut an apple or an avocado and it turns brown pretty quickly. Electrolyzed reduced water is antioxidant, which means that it is a great antioxidant for your body. When you drink one glass of electrolyzed water, you gain more antioxidants than you would eating five pounds of blueberries. The tap water or bottled water you’re drinking (even if it’s alkaline) does not contain antioxidants.
For a condition such as acne, we often try to use toners on our skin. However, having acne means that our insides are acidic. This is where drinking electrolyzed, alkaline water and using it as a facial toner can be very beneficial. An additional benefit is that you don’t have to treat acne with toxic medications that can affect the rest of your life. You can instead help your body heal itself.
Ngoc believes that we all need to open our eyes to an alternative. So many of us are not healthy and we’re paying so much for medical treatments. Instead, think about prevention of illness before it comes instead of dealing with the treatments. This water is a solution to help your body heal itself, and this needs to be balanced with great nutrition, mental state, financial health, and physical wellbeing.

When making electrolyzed water, you don’t want metal in your final product and you want the second pH you’re creating to have somewhere to go. Your new appliance should be certified, and it should last for 15-20 years or more.
