Is Blepharitis Linked to an Autoimmune Response?

Autoimmune Disease and Eye Problems

Is Blepharitis linked to an immune response?

Yes, anything with an “itis” at the end of it is link to an immune response. So, “itis” is, inflammation of, and usually that inflammation is caused from your body attacking itself. So a disease is an immune response. If you are thinking “autoimmune”, I think all disease is also autoimmune. Back to what I always say is that a disease is your body’s way of telling you that there is something wrong and for some reason you are getting this disease. Your body is telling you that you are doing something wrong. It’s usually diet and exercise related.

We focus on getting to the cause of the problem and then the symptoms will disappear. That’s what we focus on in our email series at We are going to get into more diet related stuff here soon. It’s going to probably be about four to five emails to really get you guys a good base line.

Hey Sandy,
There is no cure for blepharospasm. It is generally accepted that botulinum neurotoxin (BOTOX) injections are the most effective treatment available for the reduction of symptoms, but for some patients the relief from injections is inadequate.

I have blephoraspasm, is there anything that can be done about that other than botox injections which I will not do.
