How Do Antidepressant Drugs Affect Dry Eye?

February 05, 2018 1 min read

Negative Side Effects of Antidepressants

I have just started Paxil-CR for the depression and anxiety with this disease. Could my antidepressant really affect my eyes so quickly in regards to dry eye?

Yes, it can make them worse very quickly. I would recommend other things for depression such as, a great gratitude journal, hydration plays a big part, and meditation. All those are better options than your antidepressant. You can actually conquer depression many different ways and you just need to figure out other ways other than medications. Yoga, meditation, all of those are really great for dealing with anxiety and depression. Paxil works pretty quickly so it's kind of like taking an antihistamine and your eyes are suddenly very dry.
